The sun rises as it always does around 6.30am and I am up with the larks…or in fact the sound outside of a dolphin exhaling, I nip to the window and see her the next time she surfaces, she’s probably hunting food but looks smooth and relaxed, what a wonderful start to a Saturday. Coffee on and a quick catch up on the web and email then a gentle stroll down to the beach..it is warm but not hot, the weather that is, not the coffee.
Jolly Beach is about a mile or so long, the water is gently lapping, not yet the normal brilliant turquoise as the sun is still low, but it will be in an hour or so. The sand is soft and my toes wriggle so it covers my feet, just standing for a few minutes to breathe clear air and simply enjoy a bit of paradise. The breeze is building and we should have a lovely 15-18 knts later..perfect.
Only a brief stop this time, and no ice cold Carib’s as may be the case I’d been here at the end of the day for what will definitely be a gorgeous sunset.
Luckily for me the Marina and the office are only a short walk away, temperature on the rise and the sun is already getting strong so hat on. Tweet tells me Lewis is on Pole for the British Grand Prix..excellent! 10 minutes later I’m walking onto the dock I see Megan is already on one of our cats doing the final walk through before guests arrive around noon. Eugene our Ops Manager is on another boat checking something, the base is awake!
Ian one of our skippers has just finished a charter and we chat about how it went… fantastic sailing, calm anchorages overnight and all good, and most importantly the food Chef Ruthie prepared during the week was first class. (Well, that what the guests tell me later as we say goodbye). Would they come back? Absolutely, Antigua is a wonderful place they say…I smile as I know that already.
The next guests have Chartered with us before so I guess they know it too! …It’ll be nice to see them again and we’ll plan the week’s adventures together, but whatever they do it’ll be sunny, warm and windy..just perfect for sailing, and I’m already jealous.
