There’s always something going on in Grenada and on 29th April 2018, Grenada enjoyed the third Grenada Beer and Wine Festival and so did some of the Horizon Yacht Charters, Grenada team!
Grenadian beverage importers, wholesalers and makers set up their tents and offered an array of different wines and beers at cost, so everyone was able to try some new brands at affordable prices. In order to engage their customers, they also gave away wine coolers and advised on:
- How to taste and evaluate wine like a pro
- How to shop for wine and order wine in a restaurant
- Food & wine pairing tips
- How to store wine
- Beer tasting and pouring tips
- Tips for storing beer
To soak up the alcohol, local vendors sold tasty snacks, from sushi to conch soup, curried goat to salads, shrimp kebabs to callaloo quiche. Plus, there were the essential cheese and grape platters.
As the afternoon ended and the evening began, more people started to arrive, including the owners of Star Chaser the Leopard 43 that has been in the fleet for ten years as they recently moved onboard to live the cruiser life and enjoy her full time! It was great to see them appreciating the Grenadian hospitality along with the wine.
But it wasn’t all about drinking and eating, and more drinking… there was also prize draws and some great musical entertainment. Local acts Mystikk Band and Emily Rapier got the audience nicely warmed up for the headline act, Xavier Strings. Xavier Strings feature Trinidadian sisters on the violin and viola. They, along with their band, play a mixture of Caribbean favourites, from reggae to Soca and calypso with a classical twist. It was a mesmerizing performance.
At 11pm the day was winding down and it was time to leave, but not without buying a couple of bottles of Prosecco for the fridge at home!
