Fountaine Pajot Saba 50 (2018) 'Katrina'
The designers Berret Racoupeau, incorporated the main design features from the Helia, and the result was upscale perfection. The Saba 50 has wide transoms which lead to a cockpit and saloon which are on the same level, making for sure footedness underway, and a convivial al fresco living area at anchor.
The raised helm position is brilliantly executed, as it gives excellent visibility underway, but still allows direct access and communication with crew in the cockpit and even the saloon…or with errant crew relaxing on the foredeck sunbathing lounge. All running rigging is led to a ‘sail control station’, just forward of the helm, so the Saba 50 can be sailed single handed if needed, easily done utilizing the electric winch and gang of clutched sheets and halyards, but without the lines actually cluttering the helm itself.
There is seating for 3 at the helm, and the upper decks lounge area allows for a very sociable and comfortable cruise in fair weather. With a companionway that slides wide open, and complete protection from the elements due to the coach roof and hard bimini, one can navigate from the comfort of the forward facing chart desk in the saloon if the weather turns inclement, but still be a few steps from the winches if a sail trim is required.
Our Saba 50 catamaran has some superb additional features to make your BVI charter even more comfortable, including:
- Smart TV
- DVD Player
- Wifi Booster (if you really have to stay connected!)
- Underwater lighting
- Electric (large bowl) heads
Mr. Jean Francois Fountaine was an Olympic sailor in the 470 Class, and his purist desire for performance is built into every Fountaine Pajot – as a result the Saba 50 is very rewarding to sail. What really makes this cat the envy of the pride though, is the space on-board. With 5 double cabins, and 5 heads and showers, the Fountaine Pajot Saba 50 is luxuriously spacious with lashings of French-understated savoir faire.
Our Saba 50 has a compulsory first-day skipper requirement. For captains with the cruising experience that matches this fantastic yacht, the checkout skipper fee will be waived. You can complete the sailing resume for pre-approval here.
NB please note photos and video are library photos, actual yacht may differ slightly
