Jeanneau 44 DS (2016) 'Sea Wolf'
Overview

Jeanneau 44 Sun Odyssey DSThis eye-catching design of the Jeanneau 44 DS Sun Odyssey by Philippe Briand sails as good as she looks.

Jeanneau 44 DS Sun Odyssey ‘Sea Wolf’ Features:

‘Sea Wolf’ tracks beautifully upwind.   In 16 knots true, she will truck along at 7 knots upwind and crack off to a reach and you will see 8 plus knots. The Jeanneau 44 DS has a 431 sq. ft roller furling mainsail and a 441 sq. ft genoa with an electric coach roof winch to furl the sails and with an autopilot, sailing Sea Wolf shorthanded is a breeze. With twin helms and a full suite of Raymarine electronics, including wind, depth, speed, and a 7” Axiom chart plotter, everything is ergonomically designed for easy navigation.

The owners are avid sailors and cruise extensively through the Caribbean, so Sea Wolf is set up for life aboard. With a 1000-watt solar array mounted above the bimini (which fully covers the cockpit), you have excellent battery charging capability – fast charging the Firefly battery bank in the Caribbean sunlight or via the 57hp engine or Genset.   You can monitor the solar charging on your smartphone through the Victron Controller and if it gets warm at night there is a generator and 3 zone air conditioning throughout the yacht.

The layout appeals to couples and families alike. The large owner’s stateroom is aft, and there is a 6ft 7” long x 6ft 3” wide queen-size bed (with new custom luxury foam mattress) on the centreline of the yacht, two hull windows, and a large opening port aft with two additional smaller opening ports providing light and ventilation.  There is an en-suite head and shower to port which incorporates a fold-out door enabling you to keep the head and basin area dry when showering. Accessible from both the aft cabin and the saloon, it also makes a convenient day head.

DS denotes “Deck Saloon” meaning the saloon breaks the deck line significantly with elegant ‘eyebrow’ windows, giving generous headroom and abundant light in the saloon, the defining feature of the yacht. The Franck Darnet interior combines materials and hues, angles, and surfaces to maximize interior space and functionality. The well-equipped L-shaped galley is starboard aft, Jeanneau’s are always generous with their refrigeration space with 185 liters in the galley, incorporating a freezer compartment, with an additional 85-liter fridge/freezer under the chart table which is adjacent to the galley.  The galley is equipped with an oven (there is a gas grill on the stern), microwave, and coffee maker.  The chart table has 110V sockets for laptop use as well as USB ports, with the electrical panel above. The saloon seating is deep-set and comfortable. The saloon coffee table folds out to a full-size dining table and drops electrically to make the base of a double berth if required.

Port forward there is a double bunk cabin – good size singles for a larger complement of crew, or welcome additional storage space. The forward guest cabin has a 6ft 11” long by 5ft 11” wide double berth, and adjoining head and shower.  All of the cabins are equipped with air-conditioning, AC plugs, USB ports, and fans.

Jeanneau 44 DS Sun Odyssey ‘Sea Wolf’ is a beautiful example of this innovative design and a perfect yacht for groups of 2 to 6 people to enjoy the BVI in style.

Jeanneau 44 DS (2016) 'Sea Wolf' Reviews
Steven Reegler , BVI March 2023

It was a pleasure to charter from Horizon. The whole process was reasonably simple and easy, staff is friendly and helpful, and the yacht was as expected. We had a lovely time exploring the BVIs for the first time, a great and memorable experience!

What's included in my charter

We want your sailing vacation with Horizon Yacht Charters to be as relaxing as possible. So, to help you prepare for your holiday charter we provide a handy starter kit – the following list gives you a good idea of what’s included on our comprehensively equipped yachts so you know what you may need to bring with you – and perhaps more importantly, what you don’t!

You may also enjoy our blog post on packing pointers for your sailing vacation.

What’s Included

Your St Vincent yacht charter will include:

  • A complimentary starter kit on arrival containing such things as a bottle of rum, coke, water, wash up liquid, small soaps, paper napkins, trash bags, 1 roll toilet paper per head, matches and a bag of ice in the fridge
  • Linens and towels (beach, bath, face & hand) for your use during the charter, as well as spares should you wish to change sheets or need more towels.
  • We provide you with printed clearance forms for your use so you don’t need to fill them in or bring your own.
  • Full fuel and water tanks at the start of charter. You will pay for dinghy gas at the charter start and then fuel used at the end of charter at the marina office.

Yacht Equipment

Our yachts are extremely well equipped for your comfort and a short list of equipment is below. Please note equipment can vary from boat to boat, especially from the smallest to biggest. Find Your Rate Check out our special offers

Please note we have 5 nights minimum and 7 nights min between Dec 18 and Jan 4.

Did you know Horizon’s charters start and finish at noon? This means we can get you out sailing your first afternoon after your briefings – remember to watch your video briefings to speed up your check out! At the end of your trip, you sail back to Nanny Cay to refuel and debrief before your noon departure. This gives you a full 6 nights/7 days chartering around our beautiful islands, unlike some companies that start at 5pm, meaning you will have to sleepaboard* at the docks, and then finish at 10am, again meaning you will probably have to stay overnight on the docks the night before you leave to fly home.

*If available, a sleep aboard can be added the night before your charter start for a small supplement, boarding your yacht after 5pm.
