ST VINCENT WELCOMES OUR CANADIAN SAILORS

Your tailored itinerary to fit with Air Canada flights

With our amazing year-round, tropical sailing conditions here in St Vincent and the Grenadines, you don’t have to wait for the snow to fall to join us from Canada. Here’s a sample itinerary that fits perfectly with your Air Canada flight for all Canadian sailors.

Air Canada to St Vincent

Sunday and Thursday:  land 15.30

One of our friendly, Horizon taxi drivers will meet you from Argyle International Airport and drive you to our base at Blue Lagoon on the southern tip of St Vincent.  You can choose to take the evening sleep-aboard on your yacht for a small supplement or take advantage of the discount given to our clients from the Blue Lagoon Hotel located literally steps from our base.

Day 1: Blue Lagoon – Mustique (15 nm)

After a comprehensive chart and yacht briefing at the Horizon Yacht Charter base set sail for a 2-hour passage to Mustique, your first overnight stop. At Mustique pick up a mooring in Britannia Bay before heading ashore for cocktails at Basil’s Bar.  Alternatively, catch a taxi up the hill to the Firefly Restaurant for sundowners and a glorious dinner.

Day 2: Mustique – Tobago Cays (20nm)

After breakfast set sail for the beautiful Tobago Cays, one of the World’s most breath-taking anchorages. The anchorage is protected by an enormous horseshoe reef which also provides amazing snorkelling. You can swim with the turtles that feed around the five islands that make up the Cays, or explore ashore with the nearly tame iguanas and tortoises. In the evening you can arrange a wonderful lobster or fish beach BBQ with one of the local guides, or light up the BBQ yourself on board and dine under the stars.

Day 3: Tobago Cays

Spend the day snorkelling and exploring the Cays – since the area is protected the wealth of sea life is extraordinary. Just off the little island of Baradel is an area cordoned off for turtles to feed, and it’s an incredible experience to get close and swim with these remarkable creatures. Explore the islands ashore and climb to their summits for the stunning views below.

Day 4: Tobago Cays – Chatham Bay (6 nm)

Sail downwind to Chatham Bay, the Union Island welcomes all. This large anchorage has a sweeping beach under high hills. There is excellent snorkelling along the north side of the bay and some great walking ashore. For dinner head to Seckie and Vanessa’s restaurant on the beach; in season this frequently ends up as a dancing party in the sand.

Day 5: Chatham Bay – Mayreau (6 nm)

A short sail to Mayreau in the morning, dropping anchor in Salt Whistle Bay, a palm-fringed semi-circle of white sand. There’s some good walking here, but most worthwhile is the short hike to the top of the hill and the breath-taking view from the Catholic Church. For dinner, try Dennis’s Hideaway in the village, a short climb up the hill from Saline Bay.

Day 6: Mayreau – Bequia (25nm)

Set out for a four-hour sail to Bequia, arriving in time for lunch before setting off to explore the island. This island is one of the most laid back and attractive islands of the whole Caribbean. Restaurants and bars abound, choose between local fare and fine dining according to your taste and budget. Shoreside activities include a guided tour of the island including a visit to the Turtle Sanctuary.  There are numerous hiking trails around Bequia with superb views from the hilltops.

Day 7: Bequia – Blue Lagoon (9 nm)

A short sail brings you back to Blue Lagoon Marina for your noon finish, in good time to catch the 15:20 flight back to Toronto.  We’ll arrange for one of our friendly taxi drivers to collect you and take you the short distance back to the airport.
