Andrew has been immersed in sailing since childhood, with over 50,000 sea miles under his belt, including trans-Atlantic crossings and podium finishes at world-class regattas. A Commercially endorsed 200 Ton Yachtmaster, Andrew has raced everything from dinghies to maxi yachts and worked on some of the largest and most prestigious sailing yachts in the world.
In 1998, after years working as a professional sailor, delivery skipper, and charter manager, Andrew co-founded Horizon Yacht Charters & Sales. Under his leadership, Horizon has grown from three yachts to multiple bases across the Caribbean, renowned for exceptional yachts and personal service.
Passionate about sailing, dedicated to clients, and deeply connected to the BVI, Andrew combines hands-on expertise with a genuine love for life on the water.

Hi I’m Kim, Horizon BVI’s Finance & Business Development Director. I have over a decade of experience in strategic financial management and business development, and my goal at Horizon is to steer the company towards sustainable growth and success. Prior to joining Horizon, I held different roles in business and financial management, financial advisory, consulting, as well as holding multifaceted roles in finance, advisory and auditing capacities at renowned organizations. These being Nike Europe as well as Virgin Limited Edition and KPMG across the British Virgin Islands and the Netherlands. I have a Master's degree (MSc) in Accounting & Control and a Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Business Economics and I’m a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). I made the BVI my home in 2016 and have anchored my heart to the vibrant outdoor lifestyle afforded by the islands, embracing paradise as my true home. I’m passionate about leading with vision, integrity, and a pursuit of excellence while driving sustainable growth all while having the breathtaking British Virgin Islands as my backdrop.

Hi I’m Kayleigh and I specialize in matching clients with the perfect all-inclusive crewed yacht. Born and raised in the BVI, and having lived here all of my life, the BVI is a part of me. I have been in the hospitality industry in the BVI all my life, starting with helping out at Horizon’s front desk during my school breaks. Since I left school in 2007 I’ve experienced all levels of the industry. I've cleaned heads, made beds, polished the stainless, set up the kids camp at the Bitter End Yacht Club, managed villas, private cheffing - I've done it all! With this experience I can offer outstanding customer care to my clients and the opportunities I get to engage with different yachts and crews means that I wouldn't offer you a yacht that I wouldn't want to charter myself! The BVI is one of the most amazing sailing destinations in the world and it brings me joy to see so many people enjoy our shores every year! If you're a first timer, this a great place to start sailing, all of the islands are line of site which means you can sail for as little or as long as you like. If you’re new to sailing, then perhaps consider chartering an all-inclusive crewed yacht first - you will be well looked after! For the seasoned sailor, it never gets old! Hi, I’m Cara, a Captain and ASA sailing instructor for Horizon. Originally from London, I grew up in Italy and have been coming to sail in BVI waters with Horizon since I was a little girl. I love getting people involved in sailing and fine-tuning their existing skills. I decided to become a yacht skipper and ASA sailing instructor because I want people to come away from their BVI sailing holidays having enjoyed the islands as much as I do. I have my ASA 201, 203, 204, 205 and 214 certificates and a Yachtmaster Offshore qualification so I bring a lot of experience to your holiday. My approach is always safety, fun, and success! Although most of my sailing has been in the BVI, I’ve also sailed the majority of the Caribbean from the Grenadines to Puerto Rico and done yacht deliveries around the Caribbean, the coast of Spain, the UK, Gibraltar, from Annapolis to Bermuda and then Bermuda to the BVI. I’ve cruised Croatia and raced around the Solent in the UK, including competing in Cowes Week. I can also tell you lots about everything you see under the water and I’ll enjoy showing you the best snorkeling spots and beaches. I’m also a fully qualified personal trainer, PADI open water diver (and ski race trainer – just in case you need tips for the next ski season!). I speak English, French and Italian fluently. Before starting work for Horizon in the BVI, I competed for 10 years as an alpine ski racer as a member of the British National Team, reaching the World Cup level. The switch from skiing to sailing felt natural for me as I moved from one outdoor environment to another. My passion to be the best comes through in everything I do and I look forward to sailing with you. Cara has been honored as an ASA Outstanding Instructor of the Year 2022. This award honors the top 1% per cent of all active status ASA Instructors. This well-deserved recognition highlights Cara’s exceptional teaching abilities and dedication to student success, making her an invaluable asset to our Horizon Sailing School.

Hi I’m Jalon and I’ve been with Horizon since 2008. I originally joined the team as an exterior cleaner, but I’ve worked my way up to Manager and now I’m one of the last faces you’ll see before you set off on your adventure. I’m originally from St Vincent and the Grenadines and I won’t let you forget it! After all, in my eyes, SVG is the Number 1 island in the Caribbean, Number 2 in the world and Number 3 in the universe, but the BVI is a pretty close second. It’s a great place to sail and explore as it’s an archipelago versus an island chain and while you’re here you have to visit Jost Van Dyke – its definitely one to remember.

Hi I’m Anil, one of Horizon’s Marine Technicians. I’m originally from Guyana where I worked as an Agriculture Mechanic for 10 years before moving to yachts in 2002. The BVI is a special place to be, the people are great and we have the finest sailing, but I must say as much as being out on the water is great, my favorite island is Tortola.

Hi I’m Vanz, Horizon’s Underwater Diver. Originally from the Philippines, I worked as a lifeguard and dolphin trainer before qualifying as a Dive Master and graduating with a degree in Marine Biology. Now I specialize in any underwater mechanics, deck and bottom cleaning and on the rare occasion boat salvaging. The BVI is a must-see because it really is Nature’s Little Secret.

Hi I’m Yam and I make sure your yacht is immaculate when you climb aboard, from the heads to the beds. Originally from the Philippines, I joined my sister Paz at Horizon in 2020 after completing courses in Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Services, Cookery and graduating from a Specialty Restaurant apprenticeship training program. Working at Horizon is great as I get to do what I like, folding cute towels and organizing things while being surrounded by the awesome dock crew. There’s a lot about the BVI that you’ll love, but the crystal-clear beaches and kind people are my standouts!

Hi I’m Nixon, one of Horizon’s Marine Technicians. I’m originally from Guyana and used to work on cargo ships as a second engineer before moving to BVI and joining Horizon. I’ve always welcomed a challenge and especially like working on the new boats and going on chase calls. Being on the water is great but if you’re ever on Tortola for a while, you’ve got to go to the beach on Beef Island – it’s the best place to spend the afternoon cooking and hanging out with friends and family.

Hi, I’m Paz and I make sure your yacht is spick, span and ready for you when you land in paradise. I’m originally from the Philippines and started working at Andrew Thompson's house as a housekeeper in 2011, I quickly wanted more of a challenge and started working at Horizon in the afternoons. I started with cleaning decks, then moved to cleaning the interior and the rest is history. The BVI is a great place, there’s something about the beauty of the people and the amazing nature that’ll keep you here or at least keep you coming back for more.

Hi I’m Tiff. Originally from Gyana, I moved to Tortola in 2007 after Irma where I worked as a Sales Clerk for a Waterfront Taxi Stand before joining Horizon in 2018. I specialize in 24-hour turnarounds, supposedly I’m the fastest they know, and I put my all into making sure your yacht feels like home when you when come aboard! Hi I’m Will, one of Horizon’s Shipwrights and Riggers. Tubes and I are from the same town in England and I originally moved to the BVI when I built his house. I then joined Horizon in 2013 but started officially working for the company in 2015. If you’re looking to go off the beaten track then the BVI is the right place to be. There’s lots to explore but I would have to say my favourite islands are Anegada, because its different to the others and Virgin Gorda because it really is just beautiful.

Robin’s career began at sea, working as a Navigating Officer with P&O Cruises, where he gained extensive training in seamanship, navigation, and marine safety. With decades of experience, he later specialised in yacht sales, particularly multihulls, before joining Horizon in 2014.
As Yacht Sales Manager, Robin oversees new build projects from start to finish — from liaising with manufacturers in France and Germany, to commissioning and equipping yachts, to ensuring smooth delivery for private owners or charter programs. Hi, I’m Cara, the Manager of Horizon Sailing School. Originally from London and raised in Italy, I’ve been sailing in BVI waters with Horizon since I was a child. Over the years, my passion for sailing grew into a career, and I’m proud to now oversee Horizon’s Sailing School operations and instructor team.
I hold ASA 201, 203, 204, 205, and 214 certifications, as well as a Yachtmaster Offshore qualification. In 2022, I was honored as an ASA Outstanding Instructor of the Year—an award that recognizes the top 1% of ASA instructors worldwide. More recently, I earned my ASA Instructor Examiner qualification, becoming one of only about 20 worldwide with this distinction. This allows me not only to mentor students but also to qualify and inspire new instructors, helping set the standard for Horizon’s Sailing School.
While I’m now shore-based managing the Sailing School, I bring years of practical experience sailing throughout the BVI, the wider Caribbean, and internationally—from yacht deliveries across the Atlantic to racing at Cowes Week in the UK. I’m also fluent in English, French, and Italian, and bring a background as a former British National Alpine Ski Team member, PADI diver, and qualified personal trainer.
At Horizon, my focus is on ensuring every student and instructor has the tools, training, and support to succeed. My approach has always been about safety, fun, and growth, and I’m passionate about sharing that with everyone who comes through our school.

I’m from the UK but since starting working on yachts at 18 I haven’t looked back. I have spent my time on boats from South Africa to the Mediterranean and most recently, the BVI.
I am RYA Yachtmaster Ocean qualified, completing my training in the UK and in South Africa. My resume includes work on multiple superyachts in the Mediterranean, so I’m no stranger to excellent service, an Atlantic crossing, which gave me plenty of time to fine-tune my sailing skills and Captain on a 22m yacht based in Monaco which I safely navigated across France, Spain and Italy.
I have a range of skills from yacht maintenance to water sports and I pride myself on always giving guests a great experience in all aspects of their trip.

Living on the north side of the island and growing up listening to the sounds of the waves, I’ve always felt a calling to the water. Naturally, I pursued a career path that allowed me to chase the rhythm of waves. I am RYA Yacht-Master Offshore certified, completing my training in the United Kingdom and in the BVI. I have numerous years of experience on and off the docks and within the customer service industry. My number one goal as skipper is to provide a worthwhile experience here in the BVI or aboard adorned in safety as well as providing my expertise in high quality seamanship. Hi, I’m Bethany! I grew up in the UK and have always been happiest on the water. I started my career in watersports, teaching dinghy sailing, windsurfing, and paddleboarding, before moving into larger yachts after finishing school. Over the years, I’ve taught a range of RYA courses including Level 1 and 2 Sailing, Competent Crew, Day Skipper, and Powerboat and Jet Ski training. I’m also an RYA Yachtmaster and Cruising Instructor, and spent time teaching in the Solent before chasing my dream of living and sailing in the Caribbean.
I first came to the BVI last season and loved it so much I couldn’t stay away! Now, as an ASA Instructor teaching up to ASA 114, I get to share my passion for sailing with guests and help create unforgettable, tailor-made trips. When I’m not on the water, you’ll probably find me swimming, snorkeling, or enjoying the quirky charm of Jost Van Dyke.

Hi, I’m Noah. Born and raised in the beautiful British Virgin Islands, I’ve been sailing these waters since I was 8 years old. After completing high school in the UK, I earned my RYA Yacht Master certification and came home to carve out my career as a local Captain.
With years of experience navigating and sailing the BVI, I specialize in giving guests an authentic, local perspective—whether it’s discovering hidden gems, enjoying world-class snorkeling spots, or soaking in the magic of island life under sail.
In addition to skippering charters, I also run Horizon's water taxi service aboard my Sunseeker 38 “Athena”, offering fast, stylish, and comfortable transfers throughout the islands.
