Your Crew

LADY KATLO has a crew of three with the Captain, Hostess and chef.

From October thru March: Captain Matt Wilson and First Mate/Steward Hillary Wilson

CAPTAIN: MATT WILSON

Matt Wilson - Lady KatloMatt was born in the quaint sailing town of Annapolis, Maryland. He grew up spending most of his time outside and around the water, which fueled his interest in biology and nature. His adventurous personality took him to Australia where he completed his Bachelors Degree in Marine and Freshwater Sciences at Deakin University. While studying in the land down under, he became an avid diver, surfer and spearfisherman – passions which would eventually draw him to the warm waters of the Caribbean.

Pursuing his diving career led him to complete his Dive Instructor course and move to the British Virgin Islands. He spent time working there as captain and Dive Instructor aboard a 47ft Catamaran. Matt enjoyed exploring the Caribbean islands and met his wife, Hillary, along the way.

He continued to work throughout the islands captaining dive boats, teaching diving, and gaining experience on the water. This prepared him with the knowledge to start working as an engineer on boats in and around St. Maarten and would eventually lead him to meet Lady Katlo’s Captain, Patrick Brink. Patrick was looking for the right person to split the Captain/Engineer role from a year-round position, to 2 six-month positions and Matt was the perfect fit. You will find Matt aboard Lady Katlo October-April and Patrick from April-October. They both look forward to putting together their experience and ideas to make sure your trip is unforgettable anytime of the year.

FIRST MATE AND STEWARDESS: HILLARY WILSON

Hillary Wilson - Lady KatloHillary grew up in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, happily spending summers in and on the water on the beautiful lake in her backyard. When the cold winters came, she visited her grandparents on their yacht in the Bahamas and developed a love for the ocean and traveling. She pursued Photography and Environmental Studies at the University of Missouri where she went on to complete her Bachelor’s Degree.

Hillary’s desire to explore and learn new things has given her a range of useful qualifications. After traveling and working in many countries, her love for the sea led her to the Caribbean where she met her husband, Captain Matt, while obtaining her PADI Divemaster. Caring for people comes naturally to Hillary and she has found the perfect fit for her talents traveling around the world and working in the hospitality and diving industries. While living in St. Maarten, Hillary and Matt bought a 1968 sailboat in need of a refit. Hillary’s eagerness to learn more about sailboat mechanics led her on a yearlong restoration project and gave her invaluable hands-on experience. Seeking to combine her passion for sailboats and experience in hospitality, she eagerly joined Matt in becoming part of the LADY KATLO team.

Reviews
Caroline, "Lady Katlo"

Thank you so much to the wonderful Lady Katlo crew! We had such a great stay in the BVI – Ritchie’s (Chef David) delicious meals (including accompanying umbrellas) were the best. Thank you to Matt & Hilliary for making us feel at home (including coffees and dance parties).
It will be hard to top this trip!!

Jill & Brian, "Lady Katlo"

Words can not begin to describe what a wonderful experience we have had with Matt, Hillary & Ritchie on the Lady Katlo! The attention to every detail while aboard has been truly amazing. The anchorages, the cuisine and a host of other special touches have made this our best trip ever!
We hope that all or any of you contact us if you venture west so that we may show you some Canadian hospitality.

Sarah & Steve, "Lady Katlo"

This was the best week EVER! Every day was pure bliss. Waking up and enjoying our coffee looking out at the turquoise sea, snorkeling, eating Ritchie’s delicious meals, the “Fireworks” on New Years. It was all just perfect. Matt and Hilliary were perfect hosts and were a delight to spend time with. If you ever find yourselves in any of our various cities, you are always welcome to give us a call and we can return the hospitality.
