BVI Ferries – routes and operators

The option of BVI Ferries for travel is particularly useful for our charter guests travelling from North America. Fly into St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands (airport code STT), and you’re just a short ferry ride from our charter base in Tortola!

Travelling from Europe? Maybe you could consider routing via a US hub into St Thomas and picking up one of the BVI ferries? Find out more about BVI flights here.

When you arrive in St Thomas just take a short taxi ride (don’t worry – the taxi operators will be waiting for your flight!) to one of the ferry terminals:

  • Charlotte Amalie (around 10 minutes by taxi)
  • Red Hook (about 30 minutes by taxi)

And then depending on your route, it’s no more than a one-hour ferry ride through some of the most picturesque islands in the world. As well as being a relaxing alternative to flying, the combination of the St. Thomas routing and the ferry will usually save travellers a lot of money when compared to direct flights to Tortola (EIS). If you arrive late or miss your ferry, there are also plenty of water taxi operators.

To travel to the British Virgin Islands from St Thomas, you can select from a number of companies, that will take you to either West End, Tortola, or Road Town Tortola.

Depending on your route, a British Virgin Island (BVI) Ferries journey can take up to 1 hour. Please note that schedules are subject to change without notice. For the latest schedule as well as routes and departure times, passengers are advised to call the ferry company in advance of departure.
