Fountaine Pajot Saona 47 (2018) 'Black Tortuga'
GalleryThis beautiful Fountaine Pajot Saona 47, an award-winning luxury yacht, Black Tortuga comes equipped with 4 bedrooms and 4 full baths. 3 Queen cabins and one bedroom contains 2 single bunks.
Check out this description from SAIL magazine, where it just won Best Boat of 2018:
The Fountaine Pajot Saona 47 catamaran is a space machine in the truest sense of the word. Like all sailboats, it can carry you through the water and across space and time using nothing but the power of the wind—thereby making it supremely quiet and smooth. Unlike most other sailboats, though, it manages to do this while providing a vast amount of living space as well—not to mention the fact it does so in a package that remains supremely pleasing to the eye.
Black Tortuga Fountaine Pajot Saona 47 Features:
Approaching the Saona 47 from a distance, this emphasis on space is immediately apparent in the top deck, which measures nearly 100ft and is well equipped with sun lounges, not to mention a great view. Down a few steps is a large helm station with seating for two, and then down a few steps more you’ll find an immense afterdeck that flows into a wide cabin, a space that can entertain a dozen without any sense of crowding. Down again and you enter the boat’s private cabins, which are wider than those of many monohulls.
In typical Fountaine Pajot fashion, everything is bright, open, and contemporary, with neutral colours and clean-lined joinery that gives the boat the air of a fine urban apartment. The hulls are also fine below the waterline but then flare rapidly to chines, which minimizes wetted surfaces for performance while maximizing interior space. Similarly, the long waterline translates into good average speed, while a high sail-area-to-displacement ratio means there’s plenty of power to drive the boat through the water. In other words, like the other models from this builder, the Fountaine Pajot Saona 47 is not only comfortable but knows how to make tracks.
Black Tortuga Accommodations:
4 queen cabins with ensuite bathrooms.

Sailing Hobie cats, diving, fishing, and water sports were is childhood passions. Troy has traveled and vacationed the islands he now calls home since he was a teenager. Troy loves his work as a captain because it incorporates all the things he enjoys by allowing him to sail, dive, make cocktails, help in the galley, and entertain his guests.

Maria Welch, January 2019The cruise was a dream come true. David really needed the relaxation, and another couple with us considered it their long overdue honeymoon. The islands we visited were beautiful, Tommy is a wonderful captain and at our age, we all considered him our son. Janie’s cooking was wonderful, delicious foods were served and no one ever complained and we are all addicted to Pain Killers now, yum!
Hopefully, we will be able to do it again soon, David would love to go back to Anegada and who am I do disagree?
Also, I wanted to thank you so much for all your help and be so timely in your responses to our many questions.’
Recent customerWe had a wonderful time on Black Tortuga, great family vacation for all! Beautiful boat, perfect for our small family and ages of my kids to keep everyone happy and have some space. Tommy is a great kid and Captain! Could not have been more accommodating…. Aims to please at all times.
He has a “Buddy” in every Bay just a call away to grab parts, ice, vodka, info, anything we needed…. Very resourceful and talented Captain! My son fly fished for Tarpon off the boat every night, had a ball! On the second night while fighting one for over an hour it made a run and got snagged on another boat mooring rope. He was forced to cut the line, losing all of his backing line for his Fly rod.
The next morning while drinking coffee I was talking with Tommy about it. He had been up with him late and was still feeling bad for him because he knew he couldn’t fish any more until we could find the special line someplace. Out of the blue he stands up and says “I’m gonna go dive for it” he grabbed a snorkel and dove in. Ten minutes later he emerged with the 50 feet of line in hand. He coiled it up and gave it to him at breakfast. Pretty much sums up what kind of person he is!
We also caught a Dolphin and Jack on the crossings, Janey made a great curried fish with Rice for us! She truly aims to please, works very hard at making things you will like and appreciates the feedback! Made a wonderful and proper “Christmas” meal for us, very special! They make a great team!
Recent customerAbsolute best week ever! Our crew was engaging, welcoming, an on point the whole week. Each location outdid the last with laughs all week! Tommy is hilarious and did certainly keep us entertained and Janey, yum, I am so amazed that you do not have formal cooking training – food was fantastic!
Great food, great service, great attitude, great boat!…. Janey and Tommy were awesome!
Recent customerBest Thanksgiving ever! Janey and Tommy are true professionals! We had the perfect itinerary and the food was expertly prepared. It’s a vacation we will never forget. Swimming with dolphins, snorkeling on beautiful reefs, eating fresh lobster and enjoying all the BVI has to offer.
We were honored to be their first guests on this gorgeous boat. Though the boat is amazing, Janey and Tommy are the Stars!!!
ClaireJust a quick note to say “thank you” again for such an amazing week! We had THE BEST time with you and Tommy on Black Tortuga and would recommend your boat and crew to anyone who asks.
Please pass along that we loved the food, the boat was a perfect size, the itinerary was amazing and we enjoyed every minute of the week with you. We’d love to join you again in 2019
